Homework
As Year 6 we expect more homework from you this year. Most weeks you will have the following:
Spellings.
x table or mental maths practice.
Regular reading (30 mins a night). This can be on your own but you should try to explain what you have read to an adult.
A piece of written work based on our work in class (set on Friday - due on Thursday).
A maths worksheet based on our class work (set on Friday - due on Monday).
Other pieces of work will occasionally be given based on our topic work.
- Practise telling the time. Revise to the nearest 5 minutes eg 10 past , 25 minutes to and then practise telling the time to the nearest minute. Use this to solve time problems. If a train leaves at 9:13 and arrives at 12:07 then how long was the journey? If it leaves at 12:07 and travels for 54 minutes then what time will it arrive?
- Let's Get Cooking. Cooking is a great way to practise weighing and measuring liquids. You can adapt recipes for 4 people - if you double the weight of ingredients, it will make for 8, half the ingredients will make for 2. What do you do to make for 6 people or 9 people? Try it and see. The proof of the pudding is in the eating!
- Use your efolio page for activities on the internet that your teacher has selected to help support you in your learning.
