Homework
To support our literacy activities in class, during Key Stage 1 children will be bringing home some words each week to practise spelling.
Please will you help your child to learn these words by reading and writing them e.g. copy the word a few times and then see if you can write it without looking at it.
Each week the children will be given new words on a Friday and on the following Thursday we will have a little spelling test in class.
We also ask children to complete a short piece of writing each week in their blue homework book. This could be following up our work in class (see the weekly diary note for ideas) or it could be about something they have done, a special trip, a film or book they like. The main aim is for parents to support their children with their writing and to develop spelling and handwriting skills, use full stops, spaces between the words etc.
For maths please see the diary note for ideas. We may sometimes send home a specific activity or some maths facts to learn.
